Our History
Storm Safe Solar is built on decades of proven technology with a long operating history in cyclone-exposed regions.
Between 2014 and 2021, the Storm Safe framing system was deployed extensively by Eco Community, an Australian EPC, delivering solar projects across commercial, community, and institutional assets in high-wind environments and on Important Buildings in all wind regions.
During this period:
The system was installed across 100+ projects and 300+ buildings in cyclone regions
It was used by highly risk-averse institutional asset owners, including self-insured entities
Installations were exposed to multiple severe cyclones with no structural failures
Design decisions were informed by assessment of 1,000+ buildings across all Australian wind regions
This operational track record validated the system’s structural resilience, insurability, and long-term performance in environments where failure carries disproportionate consequences.
In 2024, Storm Safe Solar was established to commercialise and scale this proven framing system for broader deployment across commercial, industrial, agribusiness and small utility solar markets, with a focus on extreme wind, remote locations and “Important Buildings”.
The Storm Safe Solar product suite has had ~$6 million of R&D and testing put into its product development.
This includes the specification of particular tools, methods and tension measure settings to ensure that all components are installed to our design specifications and to the required wind tolerances of each site.
Moreover, Storm Safe has conducted substantial testing to determine the specification of alloys and metal combinations to limit corrosion and galvanic reactions.
This makes a Storm Safe system of the highest quality, serviceability and lifetime performance.
High quality systems are essential for optimal longer-term maintenance and monitoring. However, the most important reason for the best quality system inputs and a flawless installation is because it enables the most optimal and profitable management of the distributed energy asset - because it lasts.
This is the key to having ‘Investment Grade’ solutions, and this is why Storm Safe Solar exists - to make solar infrastructure investments resilient and bankable.
Our Design Philosophy
Storm Safe Solutions is the result of a relentless pursuit of excellence.
100% designed, manufactured, and owned in Australia, Storm Safe is built by people who understand that survival of our energy assets and our energy security is not optional. Australia’s climate is unforgiving - shaped by cyclones, heat, wind, salt - a quiet, relentless toll of exposure over decades.
Experience in the field has shown a simple truth: expensive renewable energy equipment cannot perform, or be economically maintained, when it is mounted on lower-quality framing.
Most solar framing is designed to be light, cheap, and just compliant enough to meet code. Storm Safe is built to endure exceptional weather events and long-term environmental punishment.
Our systems are:
Fully compliant with AS/NZS 1170.2 & NCC requirements
Independently certified by structural engineers
Warranted for 25 years and have a design life of 50 years
We design our solutions just like long-life critical infrastructure - built to last. Storm Safe delivers exceptional return on investment by protecting high-value solar assets, reducing risk and enabling best lifetime performance.
Like railways, bridges, and transmission lines, it is installed once and designed to remain in service for decades.
Instead of stripping material away, we prioritise maximum structural performance: high-grade and high-purity, materials, longer spans, fewer fixings, and strength concentrated where it matters most.
The result is a system that is simpler, stronger, more durable, and more elegant, because over-complexity is where failure hides.
Our out-of-the-box compliant design reduces engineering burden and removes on-roof decision-making, delivering predictable outcomes and repeatable installation.
Every decision is made from the perspective of the long-term asset owner: insurable, resilient, repairable, and ready to support multiple generations of panels.
This is solar racking built for the real world - extreme wind, remote locations, “Important Buildings”, and the moments when infrastructure must not fail.
